Hello friends,
Fall has always been my favorite time of year. Midwest born and bred, I can’t resist the crunch of leaves underfoot, that soft golden light, and those cool mornings that call for a Pumpkin Spice Latte instead of a second cup of coffee. It’s also my birthday month — which feels like the perfect excuse to celebrate with a few thoughtful treats for you.
Before we dive in, a quick note: you might see my emails coming from a new address → hello@francessimonedesign.com.

A Victorian-Inspired Freebie: The First “Wonderfold”
I recently discovered an old-fashioned gem called a Victorian puzzle purse — a folded letter that reveals tiny artworks and messages as you open it. It reminded me of the notes we used to fold and pass in school, but with a touch of elegance and mystery.
That little spark turned into something new: Wonderfolds — small, artful paper keepsakes inspired by my love of books, illustration, and the quiet joy of surprise.
This first one is designed for fall, unfolding to reveal autumn motifs and quotes tucked in each corner. Simply download, print, trim and fold - then it is ready mail, keep or frame as an 8x8 piece of seasonal art.
Keep one for yourself or send it to someone who could use a little surprise in their mailbox — a simple way to share a bit of wonder this season.
You’re among the first to receive one — a gentle test run of what’s to come, and I can’t wait to share the next designs with you soon.
I’d love to see where your Wonderfold finds a home — on your desk, tucked in a letter, or framed for the season. Tag @francessimonedesign on Instagram or reply to this email to tell me what you think.
Letters of Gratitude — A Simple Way to Say Thanks
As we move through October, I wanted to share something a little extra — a free printable card with an original design you can use to write a note of thanks to a veteran or service member.
It’s part of a small project called Letters of Gratitude, and the goal is simple: to spread a little kindness before Veterans Day on November 11.
Once you’ve written your note, you can drop it off at your local VFW hall or mail it through A Million Thanks, which collects and delivers letters to active-duty military members and veterans.
All the mailing details are included in the download with your card.
It’s a small, way to show appreciation — and a beautiful reason to sit down with pen and paper.
If you know someone who’d love to join in, feel free to forward this email — the more letters shared, the better.
Spotlight Product: Calendars for the Season Ahead
If you’re already thinking ahead to the new year — or quietly starting your holiday shopping — my calendars make thoughtful, lasting gifts. From the Days to Remember & Celebrate Perpetual Calendar to new seasonal designs, each one blends art and practicality to bring a bit of calm to your daily rhythm.
They’re lovely to hang, share, or wrap up for someone who still enjoys marking time the old-fashioned way — with pen, paper, and a little beauty on the wall.
A Little Heads-Up
I usually only send one newsletter a month, but this October comes with a few extras. Later this month, I’ll be popping into your inbox with something special to celebrate my birthday — just a small way to say thank you for being here and supporting my little corner of the world.
And in early November, I’ll be sending out my Holiday Gift Guide as its own note, separate from the regular newsletter — filled with cozy, meaningful finds for the season ahead.
Until next time,
Thanks for reading, for supporting handmade work, and for being part of this thoughtful little community. Wishing you a calm, creative October — full of good books, warm meals, and small moments that matter.
